Trans linkage/Ignition switch

Recently the ignition switch will not turn off, allow key removal, without working the floor shift back and forth several times. What and where is adjustment made to correct this condition?

It could be 3 problems; atretched shifter cable, a misadjusted linkage between the column and the trans OR a loose steering column. My car was doing the exact same thing you described. I tried adjusting the rod and replacing the shifter cable and still have the same problem. I am thinking that there is a problem with my steering column.
