Hey guys, Im about to fix my car:eek:. Anybody run a NL trans? Im thinking of going this way....what do you guys think?

I loved mine. I had Len Freeman build it 3,200 "O" stall. Whatever you do get a trans cooler when you build it. ;)

Nice....do you run a L/U now? Did you see any downside to it?

I have what he had and love it. Len is the trans man! I run a 3000 L/U converter, and truthfully I dont see negative sides to it. The L/U typically will get you a higher MPH when you run your car at the track.

I hated the idea of a non lock up convertor

All of my previous GN's, Typhoon, Syclone had lock ups

My best time with a 3200 stall lock up was 11.2 @125 mph

After getting kicked in the butt by enough people I finally swapped out the lock up to a 3600 non lock up

Best time now 10.72 at 125.17 mph

My MPH was very close but the ET dropped considerably (could also be because of higher boost, better 60', cooler temps , etc)

The tranny does run hotter (get the best tranny cooler you can afford) but street manners are still great, and I don't have problems with stalling out at stop signs, etc.

Good luck

Ray

I don't necessarily agree with that...guess it all depends on the combo... I went from a lockup to NL and gained about 4-5 MPH without any other changes...but I may have been driving through the lockup conv...I've run a NL for a couple years now...mostly a strip car but do drive on the street...not bad at all...even on the freeways...wouldn't want to take it on a a long trip...I would say if it's a mostly street driven car stay with lockup...
