I am wondering what the theory is when it comes to launch RPM for turbo automatics.

Is it best to launch at the stall RPM your converter is set at or is it best to launch at peak torque?

Or is there something else I should consider.

Just trying to learn here.

How much traction is usually my limiting factor. But I am usually on small stickies.

Tried getting a good launch down on regular a/s tires (trying to bring the sneak attack). I was always right above the tq curve or right below. It either fell on it's face or blew the tires off. I'm sure with DR's it would be easier. Since the car is at a stand still and tq is what hauls these pigs out I would think you want to be right at the tq. Maybe someone with some real track experience will answer this.

Stall rpm is really large gray hole. My flash stall is only at 3k rpm and could never think of launching that low. I wind it up to at least 5k unit I let it go, my engine makes no torque at the lower rpm ranges.
