Took me a minute to figure out what you meant, then it dawned on me and had a good chuckle! 88 seemed to be the sweat spot. It was far enough past the 2/3 shift to allow a good power curve build up. Much higher and there wasn't as much difference., much lower and it was low enough in the power curve to also hurt performance.
When I first started the WOT lockups it was with a restalled D5, and ended up eating a clutch ever season.
Way back then I was running my Translator Plus for a good long time, and several years ago, graduated to a Translator Pro (speed density), and most recently I'm trying out the SD2/Powerlogger (speed density) setup.
As much as I hate it for street driving, I'm still running that 7 disk vigilante to this day (after many years of racing and street driving), and it's still working perfectly. Although the street cruise lockups are far too harsh.
If I wasn't on such a tight budget, I'd have that thing pulled out and put something like a single disk anything with a good 32oo stall in to replace it. Or have someone do it.
