My TR has a crappy, KFC transmission with matching valve body and a D7 convertor:confused: . The lock up plug is not connected, because it does not fit. Anyhow, I have spent the summer getting this driveable and still have some things to take care of. Winter is coming, so I'll have plenty of time to get ready for next spring.

Currently, the car is mostly stock, here's what I'll end up with come spring:

Stock Turbo
42 Injectors
ALKY
TT chip
XP Pump and Adjustable Reg.
Power Plate

Upgraded rear Wheel Cyl., have to change the brake fluid and the bleeders are snaped off.

Then a possible upgrade to the Turbo TA-49 or simular.

That's about it, a nice street car. So my question of the hour:

What to do about the trans?

1) Keep it, do nothing?
2) Replace it, buy a rebuild and be done with it?
3) Just add the correct valve body, correct convertor, and whatever else I need?
4) Find a cheap BFR and matching convertor, rebuild that?

I do have to open it up again, the speedo is still off even after replacing the speedo gear, need to change the one on the govenor

I'd like whatever I do to be a nice compliment to the rest of the car. I'd also like the convertor to lock.

Of course, money is the driving factor, looking to keep budget in check.

As always,

Thanks,

Rich

Rich,
It will be far easier for you to ditch that trans and converter before spending your hard earned money, and time, to "coax" that thing into working in a GN.
I have plenty of BRF cores and can build you an affordable trans that you will not have miles of headaches tweaking like the KC model.
This will be the most cost effective, and complimentary thing to do to your GN. You will thank yourself later for just doing it, and getting it done. As the car will possibly never live up to your expectations and you will always second guess the trans in the end.
