Was driving and everythng was okay, was getting on the highway and gave it alittle gas and the engine's RPM went to 5k, it didn't seem shift and now i have to rev it to about 3k to get the car to move at all from a dead stop and the same for reverse. The transmission has never given me any problems before whatsoever, there is plenty of transfluid in there, and the fluid doesn't have the usual 'burned' smell. Seems like it maybe stuck in second:? What could be some possible causes? If more info is needed to help determine, feel free to ask. Just looking for a direction before i take the whole trans out and do a complete rebuild. Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks

Is the trans all stock? Has it ever been apart? Rebuilt? You may have sheared the splines off of the stator support. Common on stock transmissions with a lot of miles.

The transmission, as far as I know, is a stock Th200r4 and I am not sure if it has been rebuilt. If it has not been rebuilt, then trans has over 100k. Since I have owned the car, it would always clunk when shifting from reverse or neutral into drive. Not sure if that may have anything to do with it. Thanks mikestertwo

Taking tranmission down and rebuilding. Does anyone have suggestions on what transmission re-build kit(s) to buy, and any good upgrades to do?
thanks
