transmission id #'s

i just checked my transmission id tag,it is coded brf but the serial number dont match my vin # !!!

should it match my vin # ?

where do i find engine id number ?

Yes the number part should match up to the end of the vin #.

The motor number is just above the top bolt for the little shield that guards the flex plate and tranny converter, drivers side.

Need a mirror some brakeclean and a rag and a good light to find it.

Very small font either 8 or 10 stamped into the boss on the engine.

Vertically stamped vertical boss.

however i cant figure out the tranny thing.

i have 4 #'s then brf then 4 #'s,they dont match vin.
could this be a replacement trans ?

or just something goofy with the tag ?

Tranny VIN ID is not on the BRF tag.

I assume your BRF tag is on near the tailpiece passenger side?

If so you must look on the drivers side. There is a boss just above the tranny pan to gasket mating surface, about 2/3 back from the front of the tranny. The boss will have a stamped number on it about 10 font horizontally placed with most of the VIN #'s on it.

That one you can't miss finding, I hope.
