I just ordered a new 10" TC to replace my stock D5, I am currently running the stock steel tranny lines into a Art Carr trans cooler eliminating the stock cooler in the radiator, I was told to do it this way because the stock cooler lines were too restrictive. I know heat is a tranny's worst enemy so I want to keep it running as cool as possible. I was thinking of running braided SS lines from the tranny to the cooler in the new GN1 aluminum radiator using AN fittings, so there wont be any restrictions, then from the radiator to the Art Carr Cooler then back to the tranny. What do you think ? What size braided SS lines and AN fittings do I use ? Thanks, ikle.

I have never heard anyone say the stock lines are restrictive. From bad past experiences, I keep my use of braided AN line to a bare minimum.
The only time I would abandon the intank cooler in the radiator is if there was some catastrophic failure and could not get all the debris out.
On my own cars I run from the trans to the intank cooler then from there to the external. I hard line all of my stuff. It will never degrade like AN line and will not leak.
Again, I am not sure who told you that you needed to replace the hardlines because they are restrictive.

I use 6an lines of the trans to a B&M super cooler, the trans is 1/4 pipr to 6an I like using the black kevlar hose looks better and lighter and just as strong.

Ikle, here is how I did mine................ http://www.turbobuick.com/forums/transmission-talk/309664-my-new-transcooler-lines-install-pics.html I used -6 teflon braided hose, don't have to worrry about any degrading with the teflon. Used steel zinc coated fittings. Be sure to use the proper fittings on the trans case as mentioned in my thread. Use the wrong ones and you risk cracking the trans case.

Much debate about running thru the radiator AND the external cooler vs just thru the external. I went with just the external and haven't had any problems. Using Dex VI fluid.

Is this better than using the stock lines??? Don't know or care, just wanted to do it this way!:)
