My car the converter locks and unlocks and gives it a kind of miss feeling, I unplugged the 4pin connector in the trans and it went away, the car has 97000 miles, would that be caused by the converter going bad, trans going bad, or ECM going bad?
Thanks

A scratchy TPS can trigger ECM to command unlock/lock/unlock as if there was throttle demand/change when ther really isnt. Can be checked with a ohmmeter.
Bad Oring on turbine shaft or worn turbine shaft end can cause unlock upon coast and reapply upon acceleration.

Is this on a Turbo Regal or your 502 BBC? If its on a TR and you've recently changed chips or muddled with the transmission, then it cold be a poor choice of lockup parameters in the chip. Whose fix is a lot cheaper than a new converter or tranny rebuild.

Its actually for my 87 bonneville front wheel drive, but I think the converter clutch works the same in both applications

If ya run without tcc in a long cruise situation, youll overheat trans. TCC apply oil wont cycle thru cooler if tcc is defeated.
