I'm pulling the trans from my car, i noticed the original universals are still intact,i'm thinking i should replace these while its apart, what are some common replacements that are durable? Im taking the trans out to replace the Torque converter, my trans shifts excellent, easy gets rubber in 2nd, how can i tell if it has a shift kit already installed? the gnttype site shows adding a trans cooler in line with the factory one just adding it into the top line, would it be better to completely bypass the factory unit? Im also wondering about the front pump seal anything better then the one from advanced auto ? Thanx for any input !!

transmission front pump seal hole

i read about drilling a hole in the front pump seal to prevent blow out, where do I drill this hole in the seal itself in the case or both what size, thanx for all help, does someone sell this part done?

Forget drilling the hole. you have to disassemble the pump to do so. New seal is optional. If the factory u joints are still smooth feeling they can be left alone. If they are sticking or loose your best bet is a replacement from either spicer or brute force. Do a search for part numbers. You want NON GREASEABLE joints, as they are way stronger. If you add a trans cooler it is best to leave the factory one in the rad. unless the cooler in the rad is contaminated with debris from a trans that went out. You have to take the Valve body off and inspect it to see if it has a kit.
