thanks
well, if there was suppose to be an all new parts rebuild, would that cover the valve body?
thanks
charles

the reason i asked the question, is b/c if you recall i had my transmission rebuilt.

Well to make a long story short 3rd gear and reverse burned out, and the guy said that i needed a new valve body. He is claiming that he wasnt supposed to change it out. Well i am not sure, b/c i have never had this done before.
If i have to get the VB put in (SOMEWHERE else) how much should i look to pay to do this?
thanks
charles

Charles, your v/b should have been taken apart and cleaned out thoroughly and any broken or worn parts should of been dealt with at that time. As far as cost for a v/b, depends greatly on what trans and car this unit is in. Give us some detailed info about the car, engine, and trans. We will be able to give you more advice with that info. Why is he condemning the v/b for this failure? thanks, Mark :D

If in fact the vb was the cause, which I doubt, it shoulda, coulda, woulda been caught by a good build builder when going thru it during the rebuild. Proving it was that or anything else will be tough, but bottom line IT IS SOMETHING he did or didn't do right. Also vb's very rarely ever need to be replaced usually you only have sticking valves or broken springs. ASsk him to show you why he thinks it needs a new one?!  :(
