hello guys,
I have been unhappy with the way my transmission has been shifting, so i tried adjusting the TV cable. Well I find with the way i have it set now, AT THE TIME that i want it to shift. Only thing is is that it shifts TOO smooth, meaning that it seems like my transmission is going to burn up. And if i get on it say at 20-30, it will want to red line or something crazy.
And the other shift point setting is THE WAY I WANT MY shifts to feel. Only thing about this shift point is that it will not shift early, but it will not redline. The transmission will stay in first up until the upper rpm band and so on with the rest of the gears.
Also this shift setting is only a notch or to towards the radiator.

How can i get the first described shifts to feel like the second described shifts????

Thanks in advance guys

if the car has a 3.42 ratio rear end and stock height rear tires , and a brf valve body and governor the transmission should shift at the correct vehicle speed at all throttle angles.depending on oil flow to the clutches the quality of the shifts at a given road speed may vary but should get shorter and firmer at the higher end of the engines rpm band.you must install a pressure gage to verify proper tv boost and line response operation and then if all is well suspect that you have a mismatched valve body or governor.do the pressure test as glitches in the tv limit circuit as well as others could cause this problem with a matching valve body and governor assembly.

I think my gn has a diff rear end than the stock gn came with, i dont know what the brf is, and as far as i know it still has a governor on it. When the transmission was built, it was suppose to have all new stock parts, including a new torque convertor.
I drove the car today, and the TV cable setting is allowing a good shift from 1-2 but after that it dont want to shift into 3rd. With me being easy on it, it got up to redline, and did not shift. So i readjusted the cable and it shifted into 3rd up into the rpm band, but it did not redline.
Have any of you guys ever had this problem? If so can you please, please help me solve this problem? Also how much do you think it would cost for someone at a transmission shop to find out what it is and how much do you think he would charge to fix the problem?

Thanks
Charles

Yes, by adding or taking weight off the governor...If i remember correctly seems like add/removing 1 gram is ~200rpm change. Maybe one of the tranny guys can verify that.

before attempting modifications you should verify rear axle ratio, tire height, valve body code and governor type.this will make the task easier.
