I'd appreciate recommendations for a knowledgable tranny rebuilder in Central Florida anywhere between Daytona and Tampa. I'll deliver and pick up the tranny myself and don't mind driving 100 miles or so from Orlando. Please email me privately at rkammer@cfl.rr.com

I already have the converter (orange stripe) and just want a heavy duty rebuild for about a 500 HP combo. Thanks for any recommendations.

I would send it to Cal. He will get in done right.
Appreciate the recommendateion but I'd like to deal directly with the shop doing the work as opposed to a middle man. Do we know who he uses? Thanks.

I think Cal uses PTS. You might also check with Kevin King KDK Automotive. Most people crate the trans and send it to one of the following:

PTS
CK Performance
Century Trans
Vince Janis
Lonnie Diers
Len in Vegas

I don't think you can go wrong with any of the above. Have you considered doing your own with the CK manual? Pretty straight forward.

Good luck

I use Burgess Transmissions for the mild stuff and recommend Bruce, Len, or Lonnie for the heavy hitters.

How well does Burgess know our 200's? Who do you know who actually still uses a 200 that installed a Burgess trans?

He's built a few for the locals TR's. John Iwanzyk or Louie Lopez are 2 people that come to mind that you would know.

Well knowing how John drove his cars, if it lasted for him it must have been done right. So the question is how did it hold up to Johns foot? I thought Louie used a PMAC before his 400?

Scott,
Burgess built my 400 for the GN. Nothing fancy in there and you see how i drive...still running strong. He built me 200R4 for a TTA customer of mine. It was awesome. He also built Johns last 200R. This is the one that has held up to the old mans foot.

Although different transmissions, he also built my 4l60 on the Burban with some awesome parts. He also did my friends 95 Burban 700R4.

Thanks, for the recommendations, guys.

I've made a decision and will have the tranny out next week.
