I replaced all my vacuum lines on my 86GN, and she seems to be really idling smooth. I took her out and stood on it, and she spooled up quicker than she ever has before. No laziness there. However, I don't have a tach and the rev limiter on the chip is set at 6000. The RPM's came up and the motor started breaking up and chugging so I backed out of it. Boost was at max (15psi). It felt like I hit the rev limiter, or it felt like I lost an intercooler hose, or something similiar.

I tried to get back in it again but it was now chugging at a lower rpm, with a hestitation. Driving down the highway if I got into the throttle even part way I would get the chugging hesitation right away.

I limped it home and the hoses are all on. Any suggestions on what was going on here?

Was it running fine before u changed vacuum lines? Thats the first question that needs to be answered.

Missing or breaking up as you described it could be a numerous amount of things....so lets start out with the vacuum lines first.

Let us know.

The car hasn't ever ran REALLY good. It was idling rough and was sluggish to spool up. So, I'm going through and trying to get things corrected. I went through and replaced all the vacuum lines, the PCV grommet and the PCV. That's it so far (other than spring cleaning). I started it up and it idled rough, rougher than before the vacuum line replace. I took it out and drove it, but it was throwing some codes, SES light came on. That was yesterday. Once I returned home the idle had smoothed out and it was idling 775-800rpm's steady. Clean and quiet. Nice.

I took the car down to my friends shop today. My friend has a Snapon code reader and said it was throwing 33,34, 42 codes, then it threw a bunch of other codes, crank sensor, etc, etc. When he would start and shut off the car. Hopefully the ECM isn't going T.U.

I took the car out and drove it and it was not coming out of first gear before it started breaking up. I'm almost positive it was hitting the rev limiter before coming out of first gear. The car spools like mad. It is an almost instantaneous spool up, and much quicker than it used to be. Much quicker. I'm not wondering if I need to adjust the TV cable and get it to shift from 1-2 quicker? The car is definitely running much smoother with the vacuum leaks fixed. I'm sure there were a bunch. The vacuum lines were horrible, and there were several leaks.

It may be that I'm fighting two different problems here.

On a side note, it hasn't turned on the SES light since yesterday and I drove it a bunch today, hotrodding the car around trying to figure out what's going on.

Did you replace all the check valves? Maybe something with the EGR

Maybe recheck the Spring Cleaning stuff, sensors, fuel...try to eliminate as much as possible.
