Just put the scanner (snap-on) on the car and i have no codes but the scanner says i have knock but no knock retard degrees (0). Also the car is runnin a lil rich (O2's appx - 785mV). BLM-128, idle rpm - 1000; i am running on 93 octane and havent taken the car out yet on the road to open it up (no inspection stkr. yet). The fuel pres. is 45psi, 55#inj, TE-61, extender, trans. +, forged pistons (could this cause some false knock when cold??!). The chip calls for 98 oct. but im not boosting it yet. Also, i dont have any EGR setup - will this cause probs? Any comments appreciated - this is my first GN tuning process.

Well I'm pretty sure the Extender does not use the EGR at all, so not having yours should not hurt you at all.

Forget that scanner and get a scanmaster. 785 isn't rich, I like to see 800-820s. If the chip calls for 98 octane don't run anything else unless higher. You wanna learn how to do HGs? I'd rather run the correct fuel and have fun.

785 isn't rich. That is what a lot of people like to tune to or around. In my opinion, you don't want to go any less. This of course should be the lowest number after a full 1/4 pass.

You'll notice a huge difference (worse) if you bump it up to around 800-810. However, 800-810 is more safe.

The leaner the meaner but be careful.

O2 sensors aren't that accurate when it gets near the .7's. I like to tune for no knock. If you have a EGT, what would help.

so i guess i shouldnt look at the fact that the snapon says i have knock? If theres no retard, whats it matter.

Ill bump up the octane a bit and see how she runs, thanx
