I am looking for a sanity check.

I have a stock long block car, TA-49 turbo, 2 ½” DP, 009 inj. alkycontrol, T+.

Last track run.

60’ – 2.05
1/8th – 8.2s @ 85mph
1/4 - 12.8s @ 106mph
street tires.

02s at the end of the run 790s when O2s drop below 800 the car gets 3-4 degrees retard right at the end of the quarter. The blue knob and the initial are maxed, the pump comes on at 4 psi. 009s running @ 87% duty cycle 45 psi static FP, 22psi boost, 25 degrees in 1st and 2nd, 23 in 3rd. This seems like a lot fuel considering the MPH. The tranny is short shifting on me 4000 rpm 1-2 and 4600 rpm 2-3 (it is not the TV cable), but would it kill MPH that much. The converter is a 2800 rpm stall d-5. I know each car is different, but should I be maxing out my injectors and the alky kit considering the relatively low MPH, or can anyone think of another problem that would have me maxing out the kit. Could my converter be eating up horsepower (I know it could but does that sound plausible)? Or does it seem like a normal amount of fuel usage, I have no clue?

I can't think of any other info to add other than the car is in great shape and runs clean. I have not done a leak down, but I get virtually no oil blowing out of the breathers, rings and bearings are fresh.

TIA

First, the Initial shouldnt be past the 1 o'clock on your setup.

I would make sure the level on the alky tank is coming down considerably after every run. At least 8-10 ounces. Just making sure the system is delivering as should.

Your injectors are running high, and you have the alky kit turned up high as well. Sounds like something is off. Should be in the lower 800's not 700 anything.

I dont trust O2 readings on some cars, but the knock concerns me.

Maybe the system is down on pressure.

Contact me to see what version pump is in your car.

Thanks Julio, I'll give you a ring.

Thanks Julio for the trouble shooting help.

In case anybody is curious and to add to the general info here is where I am at.

I did find a problem with the fuel system, but that was not the cause of the knock.

I turned the boost way down, 14 psi took out 2 degrees of timing and I am still getting knock. For the most part only above 4850 rpm.

I normally don't like to rev the engine in neutral, but I blipped to 5100 rpm and above 4800 rpm got quite a few number of knock counts.

I either have an overly sensitive knock sensor or something mechanical is making too much noise. When I find the cause I will post my findings.
