Sorry if this has been covered but i couldn't find much in a search.
I have been a little dissapointed in my 350 TPI (90 Formula)recently and decided it's time for the Turbo buick swap i had been planning.
I was wondering how straight foward the swap is? could i just get a wiring harness for a TTA from painless wiring and the proper motor mounts and be done? and can i use my existing 700r4 or do i need to use a 200? is there a place to get a complete crate motor or would i need to piece one together?
Thnks in advance

You can get the wiring harness from John Spina of Caspers Electronics.... http://www.casperselectronics.com

You will need to piece the motor together or you can get a shortblock from Grooms Engines....

Forget the 700 you will need a 200 and make sure you get the correct core (pretty sure the TTAs came with a BRF like the TRs)...

There are a few guys that have done the swap with a 3rd gen Firebird on here that could probably help you with the motor mounts and the rest of the odds and ends that go with the swap.... I would post/ask about this swap in the TTA section as I'm sure you'll get a response from somebody that has BTDT...

HTH and good luck with the swap (make sure you do your homework as knowledge is power and it can save you a lot of headaches/$$$)

BTW, with Grooms a core is required (unless they have one) so you would have to send them a shortblock in that case to rebuild, but they have a good turnaround time and they offer a warranty....

Sorry I forgot to mention that....

Lots of TTA specific stuff if you want AC in a 3rd gen.Id bet Grumpy on the other board(same as this but end with an s.com) would have what you need.I see hes got a few TTA driveline's for sale.

HTH

The TTA had different heads from the GNs, to clear the AC and the firewall. The GN heads can be used, but it requires some degree of a rig, and the TTA heads make more power, anyway. BUT... the TTA heads require different pistons, to keep the compression down. So there are some differences between the TTA engine and the engine as installed in Buicks. It would be better, IMO, to go with the TTA setup, but not as easy to find the pistons. Heads came off a front wheel drive V6, so those should be pretty easy. Headers are different, too.

I at one time had everything to do this swap into a F-body with a 700r4. Canned that idea when I got the GN. Still have alot of stuff from the swap. I have since sold the TTA wiring harness and headers. I still have alot of stuff I need to get rid of. Let me know if you interested in anything or you need any info.
