You may have gotten more action and a better price if you opened it up to Canadian bids. Your choice of course. The Canadian dollar is almost at par now.

Canadians are cheap! once they find out the price of shipping they drop off the face of the earth. I have gotten prices in the past only to waste my time & they never bid or don't want to pay the cost.

Wow. That's a pretty blanket statement. There are plenty of Canadians on this board that spend thousands of dollars with our vendors and on E-bay. This of course may be your own personal experience, but don't put us all in the same catagory. I don't do that when I run into an ignorant American.

ok not all but most i have encountered. IF ya can't afford the shipping I say then don't bother us. My time is worth some $$ when i have to run to get price quotes for buyers who are cheap.

I sell on e-bay all the time with 100% feedback. Not as many sales as you, but enough. I have to come up with a different shipping charge for every sale to the U.S. This may or may not mean the buyer will bid on my item. So, I don't see your point. Everyones time is worth money. The norm for E-bay sellers is to gouge on shipping. This is why they ask. Better to ask first then to complain later. Most of the time the shipping is cool and is no problem. If you don't want a larger market for your goods and possibly a higher sale price, then just put a disclaimer saying U.S. only. No problem.

I got the disclaimer!!!!!!! but nobody reads anymore!

I'm Canadian and have bought/sold $$$$$ over the years of stuff off of the boards and from vendors, ebay , etc . we just do not like getting shafted on over inflated shipping cost just because we are in Canada . The actual cost of shipping to Canada is just really 10% more then shipping in the States. Also please take into account that we get taxed and have to pay brokerage fees as well on the declared value of the item . (15%+) on everything entering into this country . so combine this with over inflated shipping cost , just does not make it worth it in some cases . The only difference is that you may have to do a small amount of paper work . I guess some people find this a problem and can not be bothered with it . This IMO only decreases their chances of selling a item . With the CDN dollar the way it's going you guys would be VERY crazy in not considering selling/shipping your stuff to us . the better the CDN dollar the more Canadian people that will be buying from you . and if you do ever ship this way please do the person a favor and do not ship UPS up here .Please ship USPS only . Their (UPS) brokerage fees are out of this world for us sometimes as much as the cost of the part . Being in this hobby and having to import 90%+ of your stuff and having to pay extra can be very trying at times . The dollar that I have to go out and earn everyday has the same meaning/value to me as the dollar that you have to go out and earn as well . :)

the topic is not the amount overcharged by others on shipping.

I am talking about me driving to UPS or USPS & getting a true price quote only to have the potential Canadian buyer to say it is to expensive!! or they don't even bother bidding at all.. that is what ticks me off. happened too many times. I did not set the shipping cost. i gave true cost. there is no pleasing the north folks. my simple solution is don't sell there.

kwikr tax is not my concern or problem.

I hate it when I get questions about stuff that is clearly put in the ad. If something isn't explained or mentioned or shown in the picture then fine but man don't waste my time with some dumb question you could figure out for yourself.

I know the tax is not your problem . but it has to be taken into account for the buyer what the final cost of a item is going to be for anyone bringing anything into to Canada .like I said ,factor in tax/shipping/exchange rate . sometimes it does not make sense depending on the deal . It's a free country you have the choice to sell/ship your items up here . :)
