Sorry if this is elswhere, for some reason the search function aint working for me and there is like 115 pages to go through....anyways what is the flow rating for the stock hotair turbo and if anyone know what is it for the 87? I just threw a PT51 in my 87, and all of a sudden my seal on my stocker blew, so I am kind of forced to use my old stock turbo on my hotair. just wondering if there were any improvements at all and is it just as simple as reclocking the turbo? Thanks.

Thanks for the info, now is installing the 87 turbo in my hotair gonna be problematic, or is it just pretty much just clocking the turbo that is involved? And will there be any performance improvement from the original turbo and/or is there anything I would need to upgrade along with the turbo? I already have a hight output pump and FP guage. Thanks.

The hotair flows about 390 and the 86-87 flows about 450. The 86-87 is better but i dont think it is worth the swap. It is not a direct bolt on, you have to make it adapt to the hotair intake adapter. Most people have the adapter welded to the turbo after measuring and cutting the compressor housing. This is only if you are not using a i/c setup. If you are already using a i/c then it is just a reclocking and bolt on. If your setup is stock you can either get the stock hotair turbo reworked to a 33 series which will flow about 600 cfm for about 700 bucks or get an aftermarket turbo 44 or 49 series for about the same price and get the adapter to fit.

If you use the 87 style turbo, you will need to (in addition to making it fit the Hot Air intake) get the adapter plate (from a board member Turbo6X2) to "reclock" the throttle body.

Clear as mud?
