I am having a problem getting the 4.0.4 working on an IBM thinkpad a31p. any suggestions would be great

Have tried...

Bios Update
Different Serial Adapter
Resetting the enable in the system bios for the serial port
confirmed serial port is active on the laptop.

any help is appreciated

It looks like you've covered everything. I'm sorry to say that I had the same problem and was never able to solve it. I have 2 Thinkpads of the same vintage. One's a 560 P133 with 40MB RAM and the other is a 560e P166 with 80MB RAM. Both Win98 machines with the IBM configuration tools installed. Of course I wanted TLink installed on the faster machine (the 560e). No dice. Simply would not work - not recognizing the com port. I use that machine to program my X10 module so I know the com port works. Of course the slow machine works just fine, but it's slow.

Sorry....

Jim

Try using a USB adapter ... although the V4 stuff hasn't had a lot of problems with Thinkpads.

turns out it was actually the program file that wasnt working not the laptop. The FSC 1993 program isnt working..

the vehicle program/ecm file? for a 1993 Full Size Chevy Pickup

If you have the 4L 60E transmission, you have to use the "with Electronic transmission" option (it might be under GMC instead).

i will try it tonight, I didnt b/c it wasnt listed under Full Size..... will let you know

Ken i have tried all options for it and only one connects to the ECM.

The readings appear to be inacurate as if they were true readings my truck would run like crap. showing MAL's but no dash lights. a few things work but a few things dont?

let me know when you return from SEMA
