I just had the same issue. My laptop has only USB, and I bought the 'approved' Saelig USB/Serial converter.

Didn't work.

Went to Radio Shack and got their USB/Serial converter just now. Works perfect.

Damn it . . . I just got my "approved" Saelig USB tow days ago and yeah, it's not working.  And turbo-link's email address isn't working either   I was just about to call them, until I just saw this post.

Do you have a model number for that Radio Shack converter?

I talked to Ken Mosher a couple days ago and he said that a lot of USB-serial will not work. He said to stay away from Belkin. Also said that it might take a few to find one that works.

Yeah, I've tried two now. I guess I'll try the radio shack one.

Ok, Radio Shack worked on my TTA . . . my Dad wanted me to run it on his '93 Vette, and it had the same problem, cable recognized, but it wouldn't talk to the ECM . . . which I noticed was the "faster rate" ECM, so I wonder if that Radio Shack converter is just fast enough for the TTA's ECM, but not the Vette's.

I'm also gonna try it on my Blazer tomorrow.
