with the mods you have I'd go even bigger. I'd say 63,64,45,or 66 and a 3500 converter.
i would like to run 11.00. what size converter do you think i should go to.Originally posted by azgn
how fast do you want to go? (BTW, 3000 stall ain't enough for a big turbo....even a semi big turbo)
i know but a $1000 for the turbo and how much for the converter.Originally posted by azgn
3600 and a TE-45 will get you that and more......
good luck
how much did you pay for the TE61. i talked to someone there at limit engineering today and he ask me if i want a TE or TA 61 or 62 its just the TA is stock appearing. just want to be sneaky about the turbo.Originally posted by dconnor
I'm running a john craig te-61 turbo w/ pte exhaust housing & a 3200 rpm stall 9/11" converter (1st gen art carr)
Car pulls like a beast off idle (mid 1.7 60') & has excellent street manners. I've gone a best of 11.43@119.6 so far with this combo (still running a street chip & xylene homebrew, 22lbs of boost.) With the extra mods your car has (better heads, bigger injectors, fmic, etc..) this turbo & converter combo should have the juice to go solid 10.6's in race trim.

thanks alot with the help i'll call and see about the TE61 PRICEOriginally posted by dconnor
I say go for the TE housing, the integral inlet is better flowing than a TA housing! Unless it's a fellow Buick guy or your parked next to a bone stock T, 9 times outta 10 no one will know the difference anyways.
I think "list" was around 725~750 or so for my turbo, should be a bit less if you use a garrett exhaust housing.
I'd advise saving up an extra couple of months & doing the converter & turbo at the same time. ANY of the 50 & 60 series turbos will have SIGNIFICANT lag with a stock converter, which will get VERY frustrating in no time! A 9/11" from Performance Transmission should run ya around $600 so you're only looking at ~ $350 over your current $1000 budget.
