turbo rebuild

why dose everybody send out there turbo for rebuilding. is it that hard to ,do you need some kind of big money tools or work done. just asking i see alot of you guys realy know what you are doing ,why not do you'er omn turbos

The turbo spools at amazing RPMs. It should be balanced for proper function and reliability. You can mark it, but it's a gamble. Also, like any rotating shaft, sometimes it may need to be ground. Now you're talking .001 under size bearings. These are good reasons to send it out.
