Turbo swap question

Just got another '87 GN a couple weeks ago, and have a turbo question. A friend of mine had a 52mm Precision turbo that was had a failure on the exhaust side. Is there any merit to putting the 52mm intake side on my stock turbo, or is this just a mismatch that will create havoc?

WELCOME PILGRIM! It would most likely be a mismatch. you would do better checking on the cost of the rebuild if you intend on going bigger. (compare cost against new/used/rebuild turbo) Youwould have to disassemble the both to compare the parts dimensions. Most likely the shaft length on the stock turbo will be too short to accommodate the 52 side even if the wheel would fit. Contact Patrick, and he can give a definitive answer. Keep us informed.

Thanks for the welcome, even though I'm an old soul on this board. Had to re-register because I couldn't get the password function to work on my AOL account, so I couldn't access my old user name (Mike Z). I think I'll just list the housing on the parts section of the board, and buy a complete new turbo at some point. Thank you for the advice....
