I have always been lead to believe that there were NO T-Types made in the model year 1987, these were called Turbo T's, correct?

I am trying to convince a customer that his 1987 "T-Type" is actually a Turbo T. T-Type's were last made in 1986, right?

That's the way I understand it as well..... I have an '87 Turbo-T as far as I know:)

Actually, the only '87's that were officially called the Turbo-T are the WE4's. The others are T package turbo Regals. With that said, I always just call the '87's T-Types or Turbo T's when talking about them since your average non-TR person isn't going to understand otherwise.

Yes, if they were T package regals.
I know that this has been gone over before, but what it boils down to is that you can call it what you want...we won't bite your head off for it. I think that just plain ole "Turbo Regal" rolls off the tongue nicely.
:D

Just call it a Turbo T-Type ;)

the way i understood it was there were T-Types in 83, 84, 85, and 86 but in 87 they called it the Turbo-T

now the Turbo-T was the "non" Grand National with the LC2 motor...it was in a variety of colors and a different interior...the WE4 that everyone talks about is in fact a Turbo-T also but it's an all black appearance...so basically a WE4 is just a Grand National without the badging and has different interior and wheels...

now you could also order just a plain jain Regal with the LC2 motor which was called the Regal Limited...it looked just like a regular regal but with the turbo hood and LC2 motor...you could also order those in any color i believe...now THOSE were the sleepers:D

My customer says he bought the car new, it's an 87 and it had the T-Type badges on it. Go figure!

i doubt it...the 87 T's have a red "T" badge on the side of the fenders...it doesn't say T-Type

Mark even though you are correct.
Remember the customer is always right. Just sell him whatever he wants if it makes him happy.

I had a brochure for the 87 Buicks (it went with my 87 T-Type, Turbo Regal LTD ;) ). The brochure made it clear to me that the T-Type package (Same suspension as GN) was available separate from the LC2 engine option. My two cents :)

So, your customer IS right :)

I had a TTA guy on this board actually call me a liar for listing my 87 a T Type in my sig.

I just think T Type sounds better than Turbo T, and most non TR owners don't know what a Turbo T is.

The brochure is clear for 1987.

T Package, Exterior Sport Package, and Turbo Package.

NO T Type Package. ;)

Page 16 of the thin brochure.

Given that info, did the preceding years say T-Package or T-Type?

'86 Should say T-Type which included both the turbo package and what was called the exterior sport package (W02) for 1987 since in '86 you could not get a turbo Regal with chrome trim.

This is getting interesting! Shoot, we will engrave whatever this customer wants, just wanted to make sure that we weren't going to get an item returned to us because the logo was wrong.

Mine is a "T" with "T-Type" badges,,,they just look better!!!

.:D :D
