I don't think so. I've ridden in fast (turbo) Civics and Supras and I respect them for what they are, but outrunning a turbo LS1 car? I doubt it. If it's true, then these are indeed scary times we are living in....

Funny thing about turbos in lightweight applications, it makes them fly on the highway. I have already posted a video of an EVO beating 2 600+ rwhp Cobras that run 10s and a 500+ hp LS1 from a roll that it beat a few times by an area code.

I just read about a EVO in turbo magazine using a GT-35R that made 667 rwhp and ran 10.57 @ 137 mph on Toyo 255/40 street radials. Try racing that monster on the street and death is certain. With money, turbos can be mounted in any car/truck.

well, its a fast car.......but I wonder why none of these go from a dig....oh yeah cuz they will get annihilated.

They don't go from a dig because neither car will have traction. I was thinking that camaro would walk that civic at the track with good tires, but the way that civic pulls away I question that too.

Fast is fast, regardless of the name on the bumper. The only thing I can say is the import guy probably has twice the $$$ wrapped up in his car, and the camaro has plenty of room to grow. Guys have made way more than 500 rwhp on forced induction LS1's.

A local guy has an Evo making close to 500 whp and its mostly stock motor wise, just induction and exhaust upgrades and programming. To be honest, I don't think I have a chance against him on the street.

I saw that video first on Honda-tech.com. I swing by there once in a while. the name sounds bad, but it's actually a decent group of people for the most part. You gotta give credit where credit is due and that's a fast Civic.

I will never understand the going-from-a-roll thing. I've debated it many times and just bite my tongue now. I could care less how my car does vs. whoever from 50 MPH plus - or more. It's all about going from a dig, whether it's on the street or at the track.

Wow, thats some scary stuff, he totally left that guy.

The fact is probably most street races or exhibitions of power are done while driving. These type of races are really more about who has a better weight to HP ratio.

But I would give the Civic a slight edge 1/4 wise as he really whomped that guy on the high end.

Not hard to make that Camaro faster though, a 5.7L can do wonders with a lot of boost.

So so true.

The civic would get anihhilated from a dig. It would take that car forever to get into boost and not only that, get traction.

The LS1 guy could gradually launch, because he already makes his N/A power, and is just adding more on top of that, so he already has NA power to bring him along, whereas the civ relies soley on boost.

I wonder why they didnt say what the civic has hp/tq wise..

From a roll is cool, but from a dig is where it really counts.

Regardless, that civics prolly has about 400fwhp. I also weighs over 1000lbs less. 1000lbs could definately makeup for the 100 less hp..

I'd bet money the civic would win in the 1/4, from a dig. It pulled way too hard on him to lose. What makes you think that camaro would leave any harder than the civic? They would both be fighting for traction.

I race my buddies from a roll, strictly because with the power our cars make, traction on the street from a stop is non-existent, and none of us are trying to wreck our cars.

respect due

respect due my ex co worker used to run a 85 supra with newer style turbo engine and that badboy used to run like a badass mofo but not as fast as my procharged 27psi gt40 89 mustang but thats another chapter in my life....

any how that why I frequent the parts for sale section and buy lots of parts and make sure I have plenty of overkill cause you never know who got what and is looking for some fender notches. It dont matter from the roll or from the dig no prizes for second place...over kill is the key words..and yeah he walked too fast so I doubt the dig would have mattered anyway

thanks for the vid..

Yeah, theres always someone faster and you never know what kind of car it might be. I frequent turbomustangs.com and there are some frickin' sleepers over there. Were talking single digit drivers, not weekend warriors, but actual drivers. And being turbo'd, they are quiet. We are all used to pulling up next to some loud ass stang and dusting him, but those turbo ones are scary.

With the technology today, most anything can be fast and not look or sound the part. Us TR guys have been doing this for years.......:D

turbosam I always ment to pm you that about what a nice stang you had...that procharged mustang is still in my family my brother owns it now and when it turned hands I had its an 88 by the way it had 93 cobra bodykit and was already crazy fast. It now sporting some kind of humongous turbo and hes been in the works ever since collecting"parts" since having 2 kids and one in the oven and moved 2x stangs and all one day he will be done

Yeah, kids make it hard, I can't even seem to find time to finish the revised nitrous system in the camaro now! I'm doing good to find time to wash it and change the oil.

My mustang was OK, it was not the greatest looking car body wise but it was fast, it would have been a great "from a roll" car. I've owned 2 mustangs this past year, and while they are cool and cheap, the mustang community really sucks compared to the F-body and Tr communities. I have never been ripped off until I bought from some mustang guys. And I've done a good deal of buying/ selling here and elsewhere, never a problem. The first mustang I bought I had title issues with and come to find out the dude had a loan on it! I got my title, but it was alot of work, and lets just say his bank doesn't know yet. When they go to repo the car (and they will), its gonna be ugly for him. It went downhill from there with buying parts and stuff.

Your right about how he walked him. My bad. He took him way too fast for traction to matter incredibly.

Yeah but they don't make ET drags in 19" yo!:D

Just kidding, gotta mess with the import guys. I have a good friend with an older model supra and I give him sh!t every time I see him, despite the fact his car makes 425 rwhp on pump gas. He just put about $1200 in carbon fiber gauges in a custom panel, its cool but its ALOT of gauges, I told him he has gauges for gauges. We're pretty sure he has a gauge to tell him when to pee!:D

Oh also, the civic in the vid was on 93 pump at the time :)

Personally I think gauges are overrated. B/c most of the time you're doubling up on something you already have.

The only ones I think are necessary are FP, OP, OT & WB-AFR. Boost is usually also shown on an EBC, so a boost guage is really just vanity.

Well he gutted the stock dash so he started from scratch, but yeah, he has a lot of gauges he doesn't need in my opinion. I guess it can never hurt to know too much......
