I recently purchase a PTE 52 turbocharger on ebay ($355.00) and when i recieved it i immediately checked the play in the shaft. It had what felt like a couple thousandths play or more in it. Is this normal ? It didnt hit anywhere. Does anyone know in thousandths how much play is considered allowable or is specified. Is it zero play as the norm ? Is it true that i can send this turbo to John Craig and he can turn it into a TE45a ? Has anyone done this and how much did it cost. If anyone has used the PTE 52 will .009 injectors and a 8 position thumbwheel chip be a good combination? What is a good fuel pressure to start with for this setup running 16.5-19 lbs of boost. I have all the goodies such as 3"THDP, power plate, ported throttle body etc...I can fine tune it there with my turbolink. Am i falling short on the injector size or can i make it work without going to a larger injector ? I dont want to blow up #928 TT/A
