Hey guys. I have been away from the scene for a few days and I noticed all of these controversary issues that popped up comparing stock hotair intakes to turbomotion intakes and so on and so forth. After reading what I could find, I seemed to have missed the real point in it. What I REALLY want to know is if Jay's intake kits are flawed, how are they flawed, and what are the downsides to it. My mods are in my sig below. My car is currently stored, and in pieces for the most part. I purchased Jay's V2 IC kit last year, and have not even installed it as yet, mostly cause i was working like 60 hrs a week  . I have read and seen some impressive numbers from the kit. My car is a daily driver with all the opts including ice cold A/C. I'm not concerned about track runs. I just want to know if his kits are reliable, and if anyone has had problems with them. If so, what problems do these kits have. I Am currently weighing my options right now, cause of this kits going to be a big hassle, i'm going to convert to the 86/7 setup. could someone kindly please give me some answers here? Thanks a bunch :)

I would suspect that for street and strip use, the intake will be more than adequate and your engine won't suffer. If I had the hotair setup, I'd use your intake all day and be happy. I think that the other post was alleging a design flaw similar to that one found in the '86-'87 intake, where all cylinder runners don't flow the same when fed from a throttle body, even though they might individually. The '86-'87 intake leans the rear cylinders out, due to more airflow be diverted back there from the position of the throttle body. The '86-'87 intake flow problem has been somewhat overcome with the invention of the power plate.

Remember, alcohol injection will hide a whole lot of sins when it comes to intake flow flaws. A buddy of mine was running 25 psi with very little knock with a stock '86-'87 setup. The lean condition that would normally be present seamed to go away.

Enjoy your TM intake.

The issue was more with the intake that wasn't with the intercooler set up, you should be fine. Know a couple using it with the intercooler (referred to as the v-2 set up) and they are fine.

The V2 is a nice piece and should be of good quality - mine was, but it was in the first batch that TM made. There was a handfull of cars running low 12's or better with this kit - unfortunatly mine wasn't one of them. Put it on you won't believe the difference.

The V3 on the other hand - I think quality is more of an issue.

Hey man, how did the V2 turn out on your car? What kinda times did you run? And what prevented you from hitting 12 sec timeslips? any info would help me out!

I'm happy with mine. I opped for the ford front mount i/c. Unbeilable difference in power. But the stock fuel pump and turbo couldnt keep up.

Mine ran 14.4@94 1.9-60' w/stock turbo

I knew something was wrong so I did a compression test - Engine had 90psi per hole.

My dad (who now owns the car) should have it going soon.
