What is the correct way to set the TV cable on the tranny?? I was told to pull the TV cable as far back as you can, crank the car up and while running press the gas pedal to the floor very quickly and then release as fast as you can and this will set the TV cable for the correct pressure. Anyone??

?

I don't think you want to do it with car running. Don't see as this would be any benifit over not running. Push housing back then go WOT with the linkage on the throttle body.

..what Lee said.
Push in the "D" shaped button push the cable back as far as it will go.
Release button.By hand, wack the throttle open all the way,it "snap" into posistion.
This is with the car not running.

You know, I've used this procedure several times over the years and I always end up loosening the cable a bit more. It seems like the tranny shifts too hard and holds gears too long at cruising speed if I set it using this method. Has anyone else found this to be true?

Yep. Always found that on my original trans and then with the rebuild. Have always had to set it, then back it off one notch. Otherwise it will not go into OD till around 55 unless you let all the way off the throttle. Results may vary I guess.
