its cheap and serves its purpose. matches the interior....could look better if it was as wide as factory top. held down by double sided tape:biggrin:

Is that something you made or did you get it from another car? if so, what car?

So much nicer than those "boxes" previously offered. ;) I like it! If I wanted anything different about your clever creation, I'd like it to be a little taller, by an inch or two, so when I sat back I wouldn't have to lean over to rest my arm on it.

That does look really nice. An arm rest is certainly needed in these cars! I really like the Turbo T ash tray cover too.

VERY nice. Ever thought about switching over to the Dakota digital? I love mine.

Nice looking! But the only problem I see is, It won't open having it like that!

Very nice job. Looks stock. Hat's off to you.

I'm currently building an armrest for my '87 GN, but using the foldable armrest out of a '99 Park Avenue. I'm using the whole assembly. I'm designing a bracket system for it to be held in place by the seat belt bolts so I can fold the arm up out of the way when I need to open the console lid. This armrest top opens to put change in, CDs, tapes, and has a fold out twin cup holder. So far, so good. I'm cutting out the bracket system out of .0967 aluminum after I finish with the cardboard mock-up. I'll post pictures when I finish, and I think it'll really be cool. One member on this board gave me this idea as he has the same armrest, but it's velcroed to the console lid. I want to solve this problem by making it folding up like it does in stock Buicks. It sits between the console just at the right height. I agree, GM should have made some type of armrest that goes here, my arm gets tired of just flopping around since it's an automatic, no need arm to shift.:tongue:

Anyway, real nice job there. Looks great and stock.

Like this? I just used velcro to hold it to the stock console. Works great. ;) Most 90s and later GMs with leather or velour style interiors have these armrests. Just find a good one and color it to match your interior.

Absolutely, John! You're the one who came up with this wonderful idea. I about flipped when I saw that in your car. My wife's '99 Buick Lesabre Limited has one just like it, and it never occurred to me at all to transfer this idea over to my GN until I saw your picture. It just blew me away how good and stock this looked! Great job, John.

I went to a junkyard and got this exact same assembly out of the '99 Park Avenue. I since have gotten another armrest lid with a little more padding in the rear part of it. I'm using the folding assembly that it originally hooks up to. I've solved the problem of how to mount it. It'll work great as the armrest will fold up like stock and out of the way of the console lid. I'll be painting the armrest with a matching gray paint from Dave/Brian at GBODY and the rear mount assembly semi-flat black. I'm taking pictures of the progress as I go. Hopefully, this idea, too, will influence the other guys here on the board to do the same thing. A folding armrest is BOSS!!!

Just still can't get my pictures on this webpage, but I'll figure it out somehow. I think my computer is pissed off at me.

But, I thank you, John, for posting the picture of this armrest. You did me a big favor by influencing me to make my own with this particular armrest. You're a smart guy, so keep up the good ideas. I can't wait to finish mine. Will post the results (hopefully.)

Again, thank you. Great job there.
