Dan Boden (tyler boden on the board) came over last night and asked if I had posted an update to my situation and I said I probably should. So here it is...

First of all, it's been the hardest thing I've ever had to endure in my life. I've always watched disasters on TV with great intrest being the Science buff that I am however I never really took the time to weigh in the emotional impact and the ruined lives that are the result. Now I'm sure I'll never look at these events the same way again.

As far as damage goes it could have been worse. We were fortunate to have two rooms upstairs that are liveable. I had to do some emergency roof patching where a tree had made a hole though. Downstairs saw about 3 feet of water that combined with the overflow from the septic system as the water rose. Everything on that floor was destroyed though the house is still structurally sound fortunally. Though, it would have been easier to come home to just a foundation I think. My garage sits lower than the house so it saw 4 feet of water. My wife lost her Mercury Cougar, I lost my 67 Mustang Fastback, and the Grand National. However, the GN has been saved!!!!!

The GN had just been given a brand spanking new paint job by a friend of mine and myself. It was still apart awaiting some parts to be put back on. That helped greatly after the storm because I was able to clean the car inside and out while removing only a few interior pieces. What really saved the car though was the catch can of oil next to it. It dumped into the water as it rose and coated the entire car in a thin coat of motor oil. It was bad to clean, but good on rust prevention. It's quite amazing what my car looks like. I could not believe it when compared to the Mustang. The Mustang wasn't saved by what I call the 10w-30 miracle.

To make a long story short the GN is back to running condition although I did have to replace a few parts. Seems the starter, powermaster motor, and altenator didn't like the water too well and the 10w-30 miracle didn't help. The interior looks real good too except for the carpet which needs replaced since I tore it to get it out real fast. A few sensors and it should be good as new.

I was without insurance on the GN since I was awaiting garage finishing to switch to classic. Bad move..... however, at least this way I still have my car. The things that were covered by insurance I was happy about, but we were still drastically short on our coverage. I have been working very hard with the help of a few friends along the way at getting the house in liveable condition since it was pretty nasty inside and we've gotten alot done. It's been real hard without any family living within 800 miles. The cards and messages have ment alot to me and my family.

Thank You,

James

I can only imagine, that's a real shame what happened to his house and cars, especially the Mustang, looked real nice.

Ivan kicked our a$$ all the way up here in PA. Compared to others in my area I wasn't that bad off but still my finished basement flooded and took a few apliances with it along with other things($2-3k worth) and my little 4' wide creek in the back yard was a raging river that became atleast 80' wide and took about 15' of my back yard x the length of my property and a stone wall that was probably standing for 50yrs downstream somewhere  that's next springs project to fix :(
But atleast my all my cars were saved:)

Bishir i envy you for the way you have handled yourself through this situation. Sorry for all your losses as i can't even imagine almost losing my GN much less a house, all my belongings and a gorgeous mustang. I'm really glad you didn't give up on the Gn and its running again, thats awesome news. Good luck in the future and keep us posted

This is just to say how sorry I am as well about your losses. I am sure you have been through a terrible experience to say the least. Good that you and your family are ok. Great to hear about the GN coming back to life. By the way that is one awesome fastback as well. Hope you can revive it as well. :(
