I agree, however, if I drill and tap it for 3/8NPT I'm not sure there is enough meat available, and 1/4NPT may be too small.

I agree totally, but I may just be in a bind here. I'm not will ing to give up though.. ;)

That's about what I'm looking to do, only with 2 fuel cells. :D

Where did you go down the back of the block with the return? How close to the header is it?

Looks good man!

Return goes along the intake to the firewall, its secured to the firewall and heads above the valvecover and harness toward the master cylinder. Then goes down under the firewall near the brake lines and goes to the frame. Its probably a waste of about a foot of hose, but its far away from the ds header and the crossover.

Feed line goes down the front of the block to the frame, comes forward toward the idler arm a little bit, then comes up the inner fender at the front of the overflow and runs up the inner fender and down under the heater box and to the ps frame. Again, waste of about 2 and a half feet of hose, but doesn't come anywhere near the header, downpipe, gate, and doesn't make any sharp turns.

Hope that makes sense.

Why 2 cells? Race gas/Pump gas? How are you switching between the two?

Yes pump gas/race gas. Just ran a test of the system a week ago and all the wiring worked out great, everything runs as expected. Now I just need time to install everything and money for the plumbing.

I use a fuel tank selector valve for an aux tank in a big truck. It's rated for 65psi. This controls the return line flow to the correct cell. Then each fuel cell has it's own hotwired pump which is run in an "on demand" fashion.

It worked out really well allowing me to retain stock wiring for powering the relays and selector valve, and also retaining any/all safety convenience features the factory worked in (priming the pump and all the jazz).

I have to thanks Jack at Racetronix for his help guidance when I was brainstorming this system up. Hopefully I'll ahve good results soon. Should be the ultimate street weapon when combined with an adjustable timing MaxEffort chip. :)

I ran a 10.19 @ 135.14 in BG with stock lines and Red Armstrong's XP double pumper and was too fat on that pass and hit the Rev limiter.
If the lines are not bent and pinched, I would spent my money else where. Till it is really needed.

I don't like double pumper setups, too much to go wrong. Throw a switch on the second pump and a big return line, you can turn it on when you stage and still control FP because of the larger line.

K.I.S.S. - I'll take it everytime. I here you though, double pumpers do supply plenty of fuel.

Double pumpers are not a liability and both systems can be configured to be equally reliable.

The Accel fittings arrived and they do fit the Buick fuel rail both on the feed side and the return side.

Here are some pictures:

These are both -6AN to Saginaw adapter fittings with o-rings.
The -6AN pair list for $40.82

If there is interest in these items I can run a special on them

Jack,
Will a 90 degree 6AN hoseend actually fit below that adapter on the bottom of the regulator? I wasn't able to fit one in place between the intake and the saganaw adapter fitting, which is the reason I bandsawed the entire female portion of the regulator off before welding the 6AN fitting. Even with the welded fitting on there its VEERRY tight. If I did it again, instead of getting a straight weld fitting, I would have just welded a 90 degree 1/4" aluminum pipe thread to 6an fitting into place and used a straight 6an hose end on the line.

I was thinking the same thing. I'm also thinking that maybe there is a -6AN to Saginaw 90* available from someone (Earl's, Russell, ...).

Jack, what are the Saginaw sizes for the two?

Also (from your earlier post), on the FCM2872 -6AN to 3/8" tube OD, this is a brazed unit. Is there a compression fitting available too? Since the return is lower pressure, it should be safe to go that route... no?

Jack! Did you ever find out if either of these fittings will fit our fuel rail?

Accel carries some -8AN to Saginaw fittings (74711H & 74743H) however I will have to check if they will fit the large size fitting used on the Buick fuel rail.
Most of these are listed for Chevy which I believe is smaller.
If one were to fit it would most likely be P/N 74743H.

Yes, I did but it has been so long...
I will have to check again. There was one that fit the inlet.
The one on the regulator's return did not provide enough clearance so the the adapter I made above is the simplest solution.

Jack could you put something like this together,

10an bolt on fuel rails, 10an stainless feedline with filter, 340 pump, hotwire kit and 57lb injector package together?

This would be the ultimate mid to low 10's fuel system using 1 fuel pump and the stock ecm. The money saved by not buying the double pumper kit ect and ecm upgrade for mid 10's would be nice for those planning on going to that mark. Buying a double pumper and drivers for a few mid 10 runs at the track is not something I want to do, especially if the car never hits that time.
