Does anyone know of a good USA brand rotors to use in a daily driver? I have used the cheap Chinese rotors and the duralast gold pads wore right through them after a few thousand miles. The pads look brand new while the rotors have a crater where the pad rides. I don't need anything fancy just a good set of USA steel rotors at a good price which will last as long if not longer than the pads.

I'd like to know this also. I'm sure the OEM quality rotors can still be bought at the dealer but be prepared to pay dearly. Best bet may be to get a pair off a low mile wrecked one at the local JY. They should be reasonable, since most people will buy new chinese before used oem. just a thought.

I didnt know they still made rotors in the usa:confused:Even the dealer ones are probably made out of the country. When I do brakes I use the best rotor Napa sells.Their premium rotors are as close to oem as you can get. castings and fin count in rotor will be the same as oem. Cheap ass auto zone rotors will not have same fin count. Unless you upgrade to baer or some aftermarket kit like that you will probably get something that is not made here. And who knows their rotors are probably not made here either.Remember if it says made in Usa on the box only 37% of the part has to made here that includes the package:eek:

I have heard from different sources that Centric is an excellent replacement brand for rotors. Anyone have any experience with them?

Centric brake parts are fantastic!!

I've used them for years with very, very few problems.

What about Brembo? I have a front set for our Suburban with 50K on them, still in great shape. Most rotors are dead after 20K on these trucks. The borg warner rotors on my 03 regal are junk...replaced every year due to warping. Funny the regal only sees highway speeds and stopping ten times a day, that's it.

i learned something about GM brake rotors about 10 years ago when i was gathering parts to put C4 Vette front brakes on my 71 Nova.
a friend of mine worked at a GM dealer parts counter, so he could get me discounts on GM parts- like right at dealer cost.
they had a set of GM rotors for an early 90's Vette on the shelf- for $90 each with the discount. i priced a cheap set at a different parts store for $35 each- so i bought them. i took them to the dealer to compare them- they were in the same box with a different sticker on it. looking at the rotors, they were identical right down to casting numbers and stamped numbers. they were literally the exact same part from the same factory in China.
i used the cheap ones, and he said that they sold about 5 sets of the "genuine" GM rotors every week to Vette guys that had to have the good parts on their cars.
i can't say that i had any problems with the rotors- i put about 15,000 miles on that car over the next 2 years and the rotors still looked as good as new and didn't warp at all even with the "spirited" driving style that car caused me to have..

Summit rotors are drilled slotted and $59 idk if they are usa made but i hear good things..I got em on my car but im not driving it quite yet...

power stop rotors.

And by the way i stopped using autozone or any other type of cheap rotor. after countless times replacing them due to warping. I was wondering why. Well i forgot what magazine i read it in i think it was popular mechanics where they showed the difference between an oem factory rotor vs a cheap chinese one. and there is less material in the casting where the hub meets the disc on the rotor. it will render it weaker and is more prone to warping. The cost difference between 1:1 isnt significant but when a casting company produces millions of these things. yeah there going to save money by casting less material.yeah its cheap and you could probably get it warranteed by autozone but if you have a family why would you want to put cheap brakes on your car. I would go with powerstop(TRW) i even have a set on my honda accord. cross drilled slotted rotors 100 bucks for the front set. came with the oem type of pad (ceramic). People dont realize cars where designed to use a certain type of pad as well. Its so bad when people put regular carbon pads on a car designed to have ceramic.
