I'm new to this forum and recently purchased a 1984 hot air T-top GN for a winter project. ;) always loved these cars! Body is in great shape and it was running but it had a rod knock. (I knew this when I bought it) price was right..... I pulled the motor out to find a spun #2 rod bearing. I'm just about ready to bring the block (25514290) to local machine shop and I find a used 1986 intercooled setup (109 block) never bored, ready to drop in...complete with matching tranny, wiring harness, exhaust, turbo, down pipe.. guy says complete and ran great.. I'm just wondering what that setup is worth used and if its worth that hassle doing the swap. I'm aware the hot airs are limited and not as strong so I'm leaning towards the 86 setup. Any suggestions??

Its a gamble at any price with an unknown engine unless you know the previous owner or they are a reputable member of this site...with that being said an 86/87 is the way to start.
