Looking at going vac assist. I have been pricing 87 monte parts but am not sure what a " complete" kit consists of.

I'm actually doing this same hing right now. I bought a 'dual diahram' booster out of a Cutlass BroHam from AAV. Turns out it was the same part number for a plain regal. The bad part is I found a thread where someone whent from the dual 9" to the larger UFO looking booster and said the brakes were much better. Same thing with the master cylinder, plain Regal. I got a new one made of alum from Oreillys.

You'll need a way to get a vacuum signal from the engine to the booster. I'm going to put a 3/8" brass hose barb on the back of my plenum instead of getting that TTA vac block. The other thing is the brake pedal. You can get a used one out of a N/A Gbody, or modify the stock PM pedal to work with the vac. (that's what I'm working on now).

What type of brake fluid you going with Earl?

Whatever's on sale :)

I think I'll be tired of re-engineering stuff by that point!

I bought a dual diaphragm for an 86 monte at auto zone, brake pedal from a board member out of a 442 and O'Reillys brake fluid. Plumbed the vacuum line into the pcv

Some use filters and a right angle check valve that usually comes with the brake booster.

Hose depends upon fittings used for vacuum and the inline filter and check valve, usually 3/8" and some clamps.

DOT 3 is all you need.

We have a complete kit for vacuum conversion part #7625 for $349.95 includes vacuum brake pedal rebuilt booster new master cylinder new vacuum block with port to throttle body 2 feet of hose....

booster and master cylinder is the exact parts that would have come on a non turbo regal for 87. key feature is I have vacuum brake pedals. To modify a turbo brake pedal is alittle bit of work not to mention the pin on the turbo brake pedal is not the rite size nor is it in the rite position on the assembly. Less work getting the proper pedal to start with.

Check valve is a good idea. to ad

other key thing is your car has to be fairly stock in order to have ample vacuum for vacuum brakes otherwise you have to ad a vacuum canister which can be bought from Jegs or Summit.

We also now offer 3 hydroboost systems....

last resort is to stick your foot out the door to stop your turbo regal....when PM lite flickers on....
