valve body question

I have a 85 GN 200r4 in my 86 Ttype, the problem im having is
My car wants to start off in second gear, but if i manully put it in first and then put it in o/d it will take off in first gear, but after coming to a stop and taking off again it will start off in second gear " unless i manully put it first and back to O/D again"

any idea's?? other than that it shifts hard and no other issues other then my speedo is inacurate

Mainline pressure way too high, 1-2 shift valve in baskwards, wrong govenor or govenor stuck ck ball. That is just to start... :wink:

excessive tv adjustment will also cause 2nd gear starts.what happens if you loosen or disconnect the cable?line leaking into governer upshift circuit also a common cause.misalined vb gaskets or improper torque.trans go shift kit with governer orifive mod also a major cause.
