Vdo temp gauge sending unit location?

I'm unsure as to which one is the correct spot for the temperature gauge sending unit. I'v got the vdo gauge mounted and sending unit ready to put in but they look the same on the left(passenger) and the right(driver) side under the hood on each side of the thermostat housing. I thought that the passenger side was for the idiot light in the dash and the drivers side was for the ecm. I can't get a definate answere so far from gbodyparts or kirbans. Any help?

The one facing up on the drivers side is where my sending unit is. Pretty sure that's the switch for the high speed fan.

My fan is jumped out so that it's always on high when it's running and I ran the old sensors wire to an ash tray switch so it'll command hi-speed fan when ever I want it.

Just don't use the one on the front of the intake on the Drivers side.
