so i purchased a 84 that hasnt ran in over 3 years. i got the car running by squirting gas in the tb, running enough to get it on and off the trailor. well i finally got a new fuel pump and tank, enought to start the car. so i started it up today ( first time ever) and i had to keep playing with the tb to keep it running and if i kept the tb in one spot it would stall. after a min the car seemed to warm up enough to where it would stay running but if i softly played w the tb it would stall right out. i noticed there is a exhaust leak but i dont think that has anything to do with anything. any help on where to start. also i knwo my check engine light works cause with the key on but car off the light comes on, when i had the car running for the min / min 1/2 i had no check engine light. but when it died with the key on the light came back on?

i did some more searching on here and i unpluged the MAF. the check engine light poped on but the car ran so much smoother. so im guessing that is the first thing i should change. also it is my up pipe that is leaking from the center of it. does anyone have a stock up pipe and MAF they are looking to sell?

If you are not looking for a pretty uppipe I have one for sale. I can send you a PIC. The 84/85 MAF's are really rare. The remanufactured ones are hit or miss. You may have to ugrade to the 86/87 ECM, MAF, IGN and module. The 86/87 MAF are out of production and the remans are iffy as well. Alot of people use a translator and a new GM MAF from Impala SS. Take- Care- Brad
