Some guys here in KY were having trouble even getting their cars to run on Torco. They all yank the cats and run Turbo Blue leaded 110 here.

turbo blue

There is a turbo blue 110 and a 116 The 116 is not a replacement for c-16 but much better than the 110. The turbo blue extreme is 114 motor octane an c-16 is 117.

FYI: We've run into problems lately with Torco fuels in classes which have "spec" fuels. I know of at least 5 racers who purchased barrels of Torco fuels(Torco has off the shelf fuels included in the spec) who have failed fuel tests. This resulted in one of the guys being dq'd after setting the class record and winning the event. Bummer!

race gas

Ive use VP c-16 117 octane and have had my stock gasketed and bolts ,stock shortblock up to 27 psi with zero knock with a RAstreet chip 20deg timming . c-16 seems to work good for me.:)

Jetmech: It's my little street car....an LX Mustang with an Innovative dual ball bearing T76 and liquid to air cooler. Built it to run high 8's on the drag radials but still workin out some new car bugs. Here's a link to some piks......

octane

Even though Torco lists their gas at 116 octane.. that's the R=M/2 method. the "research octane" is a much higher and more forgiving test and the "motor octane" test is a much harder on the gasoline. So taking the average of the two will almost always result in a higher octane number.

Now as for the VP gas, it's all MOTOR octane. so if you were to compare the VP C-12 (108 motor octane) to Torco's 112 octane (R+M/2) the Torco would rate about the same octane as the VP.

So when you compare, make sure that you compare apples to apples not apples and R=M/2!!
