Picked up 1998 vw tdi belt bad-head will be done-anybody know if they bend rods? Clean car 95k miles.any help my dually is killin me.

I dont think so.The vw motors are strong.Get good oem head gasket-belt.That car will
be strong for another 100k.

I dont think these engines are interference. My buddies belt broke on his and it was ok. just installed the belt and it ran ok. Im looking on alldata as Im typing this and it does not say anything about interference. Its not a bad job to do. That car will run for a long time once the belt is replaced

Thanks for info. was your friends a turbo diesel? Did some looking on line looks like they cause some damage.Ordered a socket to get it apart will be here this week-need that 50 m.p.g. will replace all idlers and tenioner and water pump and head will be redone.
