i have my alcohol in my washer fluid canister and every time i open my hood the lid is off and there is no alcohol in the tank. why is this happening

Your tank is pressurizing. Put a check valve in line between the pump and tank so no boost pressure will get back to the tank.

If thats not it, you dont have a vac line to the top of the cap to pressurize the system like the old setups do you? That would definately do it. everytime you step on the pedal and build a few pounds of boost.....POP!

yeah it the type that sucks threw the lid and not out of the bottom but even with the pump unpluged it does it

Its not the pump thats doing it. Its the pressure from your engine when under boost coming through the line.

Are you saying that the alky feed line is attached at the top? When I used the winshield washer tank in the past I drilled a hole near the bottom of the tank and attached a fitting and hose there for feed line. At the top I had a vac line to give pressure when the engine was under boost to help push the alky. This was early on and I wasnt thinking about the fact that the top would instantly pop off as soon as the tank pressurized. I went to a metal better sealing container after that.

You dont have a check valve do you? If not, install one and your problem should be solved.
