Trying to tune car, I had to spin the wastegate rod about 12 times to go from 18 psi to 21 psi. Turbo Tweak alky chip is set to 20-23 psi. Would a HD wastegate help this problem? Running a TA49 and would like to go 25+ psi at the track. Who makes the best HD wastegate, and would I have to get a new chip to run it? Sorry about all the ?'s, but its getting tough to hook the rod to the flapper. thanks

You might go with RJ boost controller.
You would not have to have the chip changed.

Anybody know with the PTE HD wastegate if you need a new chip or wastegate solenoid?

NO.

What ever turbo you run, or what ever boost you choose to run, you need to make sure your chip is on the same page.

At 20PSI, you MAF is about maxed out. A race chip will add extra fuel beyond the capability of MAF readings. Don't mix street chips with high boost, and don't run race chips with low boost on the street. Verify your tune with a scan unit, or EGT or both.

Stock or Standard actuators use a 10-11# spring, and gate is normally full open at 12#.
The chip programming pulses the solenoid to bleed off pressure to the actuator/cannister to the desired boost level. As an example if chip programmed to run approx. 17# with Standard, it would be approx. 20-21# with a heavy duty actuator. The HD actuator has a 13-14# spring & fully opened by approx. 15#.

Of course the above can be changed using the adjustable rod.
Which can raise the programmed chip level, which you seemed to have maxed with the standard/adjustable you have.
A HD should allow you to reach your 25# goal.

As far as chip change, I would always consult your chip programmer as to the parameters he intended the engine/turbo would be run, and the fueling limits established.

The previous post above summarized it quite correctly.

Thanks guys. I'm going to try a chip with more boost programmed into it first, and see what that does. Good thing I like doing the tuning thing. Back out to my favorite country road/drag strip, with the scanmaster and the g-tech.
