Water inside car by ECM?

Ok so my car was dirty so I took it to the local car wash and had them run it thru for me, it came out dirty still the first time so they ran it thru again, so it got twice as much watter splashed and sprayed on it as normal. Anyways when I get in it to leave I notice there is a little trickle of water coming from below where the ECM sits. It worried me a bit that it might get my ECM wet. I mean its not a lot but still thats the worst place to have water coming in. Ive never seen this before and I was just curious where it could be coming from. I did replace the heater core 2 years ago but like I said Ive never seen it leak there before. Could it just have a small leak and because it was ran thru the wash twice it had more water hitting the leak than usual? Thanks for any and all hep.

Sounds like it could be from where the door window and weatherstripping meet. I used to have a bunch of leaks in my car. I found them using 2 techniques. First one was having a friend shine a flashlight from inside the car while I was outside. I also did it the other way too (he was outside and I was inside.) The second technique involved having me inside and somebody outside with a hose and spraying the hell out of the car. I did take some of the interior parts out to trace out where the water was coming in at.

Check to see if the putty at the base of the A pillar is dry or missing.

Water entering near ECM

Is it a T top car? I had the same problem and it was a Ttop weatherstrip problem. I forget exactly where the entrance point was but when I took off the glass panel and dug into the problem I discovered a lot of rust that had to be dealt with. After that I replaced the weatherstripping and then using the garden hose test I discovered another minor leak just below the windshield which turned out to be caused by dried up and cracked sealing gasket on the top of the blower box. I lean toward the other replies, but also check the drain hole for the heater core. They tend to get blocked up and water can accumulate in there.

It is a hard top car. Where are the drain holes for the heater box? Can I get at them without taking the heater box lid off?

On both of my cars it was the heater core lid. There are a lot of screws holding that thing down so be careful removing it. Since you did it two years ago I wouldn't think it would be leaking already unless you didn't use enough sealant.

I may not of gotten it sealed good enough and since it was ran thru the carwash tunnel twice it had tons of water dumped on it. I will take a look at the lid and at least run another bead of silicone along the firewall edge and maybe take each screw out and put some sealant around them. I guess I can just try the flashlight and water trick to and see where it is coming from.

It is a hard top car. Where are the drain holes for the heater box? Can I get at them without taking the heater box lid off?

If you follow the firewall downward, below the heater box you should see a tube coming out. I recall it being where the curvature starts, probably better seen from under the car.
