This will be a long road to completion but it will be worth it. I recently moved to Louisiana and have 2 other Turbo Buick’s. I’ve made quick friends here and after a few months I get a call. The call was to tell me that there was a mutual friend that had a Grand National sitting at their body shop and could I take a look at the pictures and let him know if the car was worth the money... the pictures quickly told me that it was actually a WE4 and not a GN.. this ruined the car for my buddy... this also made me interested since I’m not a GN fan... a few months pass by and my daily (335i) grenades... I start thinking... maybe I’ll call the body shop and see what the deal is... I get ahold of them and they say the car has 130k miles and it has been sitting for 10+ years... I say ok... I’ll come look. By now I’m not nearly as interested in the car but I go anyways. I get there and immediately fall in love.. car is 100% stock to the core... original maf and intake setup, powermaster, oil filter on pass vc, and even has coolant lines on the throttle body... this all amazes me. I start looking the car over... I can tell immediately that the car is not a 130k mileage car... it clearly is a 30k mile car that has sat for many years... the inspection tag says 98.... the car has handicap controls and the original rims have newer tread tires on them that are completely blown to smithereens from sitting... the seats are perfect... the carpet and headliner are trash... I wipe a layer of dust off of the lacquer paint and it looks like glass... I ask about a price and I happily paid what he asked... they towed the car home to me [emoji3] once it was home I drained all the fluids and put penetrating oil in the cylinders to make sure everything was kosher.. I put a hot battery in and a starter. Once I got all the oil out I did a good oil change and buttoned it up. To show my neighbor that it would turn over, as he wasn’t a believer.... I bumped the key and the damn thing fired up!!!! I very quickly shut it back down!!!! Anyway, so far I’ve verified mileage with carfax and paperwork... 1owner... 30k miles... the guy bought the car in my town in 87 and got in an accident that paralyzed him a year later from the waist down... the car sat from 88-93ish... dry rotting the original tires... he put some Goodyear’s from sears on in November of 93 when the car had 636 miles per paperwork from sears... the blown out tires with good tread on the original rims?? Same serial numbers as the paperwork from 93!
I’ve done a radiator, fuel pump, Hotwire, maf, starter, alternator, and battery... it did have some squirrels destroy some wiring which sucked but I’m a parts hoarder and I had it covered! Here’s some pics of what it looked like the day I bought it...
