I was wondering what my car would weigh when I put it on a scale.I have the following.........
Front sway bar removed
Sound deadeners removed
crashbars removed
fiberglass hood,trunk,front and rear bumpers.
Aluminum bumper supports(no bumper reinfocements)
Weld wheels
mini starter
no spare tire.....but I also have
ttops
6pt rollbar(mild steel) to add weight back.Anyone have the same or close done or have an idea?I'm really curious.TIA

I put my car on a scale about two weeks ago. Its a t top with a 6 pt bar, fiberglass bumpers and everything else installed. With me and about 3/4 tank of gas the scale was at 3660.

I have similar work done to my GN. I have a FG hood and front bumper only, back seat insulation removed, crash bars,AC ect..... With me in it(220lbs) and 5 gals of C-16 the car weighed at 3460.

Someone guess this....

Here's one for ya. Any ideas what I -should- weigh, before I take the car to the truck station to get the facts?

Fully loaded '87 GN. Options: T-tops, p/l, p/w, p/drvr seat, concert sound II, stock GN rims, spare tire & jack (which I still forgot to take out of the trunk for racing). Pretty much everything you could order except twilight sentinel, but that doesnt add to weight anyway. But with all the other stuff. What should it weigh? I only managed to pull a 14.5 @ 94 with it on a ZERO boost launch (brakes wouldnt hold any boost). So thats basically a rollout run. That was also with the STOCK CHIP too, which I just replaced with a Thrasher 92. Havent run with that yet, still tuning it. I was told it should be at least a 13.9 second car with right launch & traction. New motor only has 20k, and trans rebuilt that shifts hard. Read sig for all the minor stuff done to it. It's basically stock setup. I'm guessing its a heavy ass car. 3800 lb range?

By the way: Louie, I checked out your website w/ car pictures. That thing is soooo damn sexy. Can I take it out? I promise I'll have her home by 11. :D

I have an '86 GN with T-tops, power seat, electronic climate control, power trunk, concert sound II, T-tops, Twilight sentinal, etc, etc. I think the only option left off is engine block heater.

Without the spare (around 40#'s) and with exactly 5 gallons of gas it weighed 3450lb's empty.

For an '87 add 45lbs or so for steel bumper supports (1986's have AL) Plus the spare and you are looking at 3540lbs empty for your car. If you weigh 260#, then yes, you are in the 3800# range.

So for an '87 Limited hardtop, with aluminum front and rear supports and cruise, power windows and concert sound would 3,300lbs be close?
I'll see what the scale at E-towns shows tomorrow.

I surely dont weight that much. My car just seems heavier then that for some reason. Gotta be at minimum 3700 lbs there.

We'll find out. I hope its heavy, cuz that'll be my excuse for being slow. :D

LOL!!! No one takes her out but me!:D

Thanks for the replies guys.I'm hoping sub-3500lbs race weight. The only way to find out is to put her on a scale.Now......If only my motor was in...:o

I'll give you an idea how light you can get. My car had factory everything including sunroof.

Now installed:crank windows, manual seat tracks, manual window regulators, lexan in sunroof opening, fiberglass bumpers front and rear w/ aluminum supports, manual steering box, A/C removed, 6 point mild steel roll bar, full interior, alum drums and welds.

Scales at Bristol said 3105#
Scales at Norwalk said 3100#

I'm gonna ditch the copper/brass radiator for aluminum, cut out the door crash beams and I have a fiberglass decklid. I'd like to lose another 100# or more if possible. I'd like to replace the core support with aluminum if I could find one.

FYI, on the E-town scale today, I weighed in at 3,674 with me in the car (~240#'s), 1/2 tank of gas and nothing removed (spare, jack, etc.) That would be 3,434 as the car sat today. I suppose removing the spare and running an 1/8th of a tank of gas would get the weight under 3,400.
The T is a hardtop, bench seat, concert sound (no tape or EQ), power windows, cruise and rear defrost. It has al bumper supports.
Just FYI...
