I had my powermaster replaced several months back due to a hard pedal condition. When I go to stop I'd have to put almost all my strength on the pedal for the car to stop. It was hard as a rock to push down. Replacing the powermaster fixed this problem... for a few months. Now it's back to doing the same thing again. The weird part about it is.. When I floor the car for a few seconds the pedal seems to work fine... for a few seconds, to maybe, a few minutes...then goes back hard again. Any idea at all what could cause this?

Mine did exactly the same thing about a week ago. If you look under the thread that is named (powercrapper) i explained what i did. But the only difference is that you already replaced your powermaster a while ago and now it is acting up again. You may have gotten a crap rebuild one. I just replaced mine this weekend and am praying to god it doesnt do it again for a long time. I got mine from Auto Zone with the lifetime warranty:D so if i come across the same situation as you, i will just bring it back in for another. But i can only assume if your car is doing the same thing after already replacing the powermaster once, it would lead to a faulty or a bad rebuild unit:( I keep hearing it is a hit and miss with these rebuilds from Auto Zone, either you get a good rebuild that will last, or a not so good one that will go again in a short amount of time. The only other solution is to convert to vaccum. But thats another story and am not familiar with that setup. I can say the powermaster i just put in my car this weekend, works a hell of lot better then the other one did, when it was working.

That is the problem with the rebuilt units...you really don't know anything about the parts they use or how old they are...one option is to go vacuum but there is another...rebuild the unit yourself...get a new pump/motor from Hank Terry and a MC rebuild kit from GM...it's very easy to rebuild and then you know for sure what parts have been replaced and basically you have a brand new unit which should last a long time...or just keep replacing the PM every few months with the lifetime warranty rebuilt units...
