I drove to pearlridge today, car ran "okay" as usual. I parked the car, came back, car was dead. When I turned the key, there was no noise, nothing at all. Kept trying.... still nothing, called a tow truck. 15 minutes later, tried again, the car started right back up as if nothing had happened. Does anyone know what this could possibly be? I don't think it's the battery because all the lights on the dash came on fine, and the power windows worked. Im stumped. Could it have anything to do with the fact that my fan was running for 20 minutes after I shut the car off? Thanks everyone!

Haha thanks Jackson.. I guess I overlooked the small things (like a starter) since there are so many bigger problems with the car. I'll replace it and see what happens.

did the idiot lights come when you turned the key? if not...check the battery terminals. tighten them up a little. that happend to me a few times. the starter could be the problem as well. i've experienced the starter going bad...it's not fun!

Be nice Chris.:( It's not nice to call names, and make fun of people like that.:D

I'm sure Cale's a pretty bright guy.:p
I don't think he's an idiot, and would never refer to his whoes in that way.
Hey, even monkeys fall out of trees.

Cale, I'm with you on this one. I once had a problem like that before were I hopped into a car, and just like you, went to start it and nothing. After a few minutes of shaking the shifter, and watching the lights stay lit, I figured that the starter was going bad. I banged it a couple of times with my trusty 12 oz hammer, and it never gave me that problem again. I leave that hammer in the trunk as a reminder now. See, you have to treat your car with TLC (Torture the Living Crap)and show her who's da boss. So the next time your car seems stuborn, and she don't want to move for you. Take a trip down to your local hardware store and pick yourself up what I like to call "tools of disipline" tool, and she'll start every time. Trust me

;)

Tapping the starter and it turns over indicates the contacts on the armature is going bad. The vibration causes the contacts to work briefly.

HTH

Thanks for the help guys. Yeah Chris, don't tease me, im sensitive to name calling *cries*. Thanks Gerald, could I just use the spare tire jack? :D

I'll second that! Get the mini starter....:)

Saves a few pounds, and Sounds cool!! Listen to Guy's car starting up next time. :)

Replace the starter soon or have a hammer handy what Gerold suggested

Mini starter (NEW) around $200
Rebuilt A/C Delco starter around $75-80 with core.

Hey Chris, you were right! Keith and I went down to checkers today and my car wouldn't start again. We were stumped, and thought the battery was dead. So Keith was removing the battery to charge it inside when he found that it was not even screwed in tight ha ha, after that, problem solved. Yikes, such a small thing overlooked! :D Thanks for all the help Keith!
