It says the grove should be a 1/4 deep that seems a lot this is mine it’s just a little less then a 1/4 . Does it have to be a 1/4 anyone ? Will it cut through at a 1/4 ?

Believe the directions indicated approximately 1/4” deep or even with existing floor machined in the cover

do you have a copy of the instructions ?
They are posted in case you don’t have them
