I installed weld prostars on the back of my WE4. Of course the stock wheel studs are not protruding into the hex portion of the lug nut. Is this safe to drive like this? the nut still engages almost 1". I am going to the strip tomorrow and am worried about passing tech. I thought the protruding stud thing was for cars running slicks only, now I'm not so sure. :( Thanks

It'll be fine.. I never had the correct length studs on my cars...

lug nuts

be fore warned!
they (tech) like to see open ended lug nuts, to verify how much thread contact you have.
also, the faster you run, the more strict they are!
you may get by once or twice, but eventually they will ask you to use a different lug nut.
good luck

Lug nuts are open ended, studs are about 1/4" from going through the wheel. Its better than I thought . This winter i'll put the long studs in. Thanks

Everyone with Weld wheels of this design deals with this... usually by installing 3" studs. If your track goes by the book, the stud is supposed to engage the NUT by a distance at least equal to the diameter of the stud. But, they may not even look closely for open lugnuts and stud engagement if they see you're running street tires. If you are comfortable running like this, and want to get away with it, use closed lug nuts with your street tires. This is not an endorsement :)

I got ARP 2.5" studs and it protruding out about 1/2" this should be no problems passing tech.
