I have been looking for a mig welder for some time now. I have finally come across a connection to get a Homedepot lincoln weldpak 140 for a great deal. Now I have been told these units are different from the units sold at welding supplys. Would that stop anyone from getting one anyway. I dont have money to throw around so price makes a difference and this welder will be only used once and a while. Would you pay the full price and get one from a supply house or get the one from Home depot for a good deal.

Sal what kind of deal are you getting on it?
I wouldnt think the 140c is different at a supply shop then homedepo but who knows

Depends on what you need it for. I found my 115v welder would not do to well for roll cage fab. It did great for thin metal. I ended up buying bigger. I should have waited and bought bigger first. It would have been more cost effective. I LOVE my Miller 251. I can't imagine needing a larger machine.

I would shop on line.My friend just bought a plasma cutter on line.He called around and the best price he found was $980.00. He bought the same miller plasma cutter on line for $780 shipped  If i remember tomorrow i will call him and get the name of the place. I cant see lincoln putting their name on something they did not build. But you never know these days. solar welders are made by century. I have a lincoln 130pt and a htp their both over ten years old and have never had a problem with them. If you are not going to be welding a lot I would check craigslist and see what you can find. my buddy picked up a solar mig for $150 because the speed only worked on high. speed control board is bad about $60 bucks for board and it will be fine. good luck
